Lonnie Guy Hopkins, 63, of Marshall, formally of Eckford, passed away on Thursday June 1, 2006 at his home.Lonnie was born on May 31, 1943, in Long Beach, California to Frank and Diries(Kemp) Hopkins. He graduated from Albion High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving during the Vietnam conflict.On July 24, 1976, he married the former Rae Etta Buskirk in Albion. The marriage ended in divorce. Lonnie was a Journeymen Millwright for 22 years at Harvard Industries in Albion. He retired in 1996 due to illness. Lonnie enjoyed riding his motorcycle, and listening to Oldies and Country Western music. He was an avid bowler, and bowled on different bowling leagues in the Homer and Albion area. Lonnie enjoyed watching Piston''s basketball, and light weight boxing. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially time spent with his children and grandchildren.He is survived by two daughters; Tammy (Stanley) DeWare of Missouri(from previous marriage), and Necole Hopkins of Eckford, son Zachary Hopkins of Eckford, three grandchildren Dale, Stormy, and Skylar DeWare of Missouri, three brothers; Joe Glenn (Henrietta) Hopkins of Bellevue, Doug (Mary) Hopkins of Albion, Bill Hopkins of Marshall, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.A memorial service will take place at 2:00 pm on Sunday June 11, 2006, at Sackett School in Eckford with Reverend Walter Nichols officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Marshall V.F.W. post 4073. Assistance with memorials is available at the Kempf Funeral Home.
