Lois L.(Brooks) Vandenburg, 95, of Marshall, died on Monday August 21, 2006, at the Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence in Battle Creek.Mrs. Vandenburg was born September, 29, 1910, in Clarendon Township to George and Blanch Brooks. She graduated from Homer High School in 1929. On June 7, 1933 she married Clayton Vandenburg, in Marshall at the Brooks Memorial Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on July 7th, 1982.The couple lived in Detroit for many years until moving to Marshall in 1945. They opened the Vandenburg''s Radio and Appliance in Marshall. The couple ran the business for many years then later formed a partnership with their two sons Alan and Wesley. Mrs. Vandenburg retired from the family business in 1979 when the business was sold. She enjoyed needle work, working in her flower garden, and spending her winters in Florida. She is survived by two sons; Alan (Nancy) and Wesley (Jean) Vandenburg all of Marshall, four grandchildren: Myron (Jonna) Vandenburg of North Carolina, David (Amber) Vandenburg of Marshall, Melanie (Garry) Myers of Stockbridge, and Karen (Jamie) Peacock of Grass Lake. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, and a brother George Brooks in Concord. She was preceded in death her parents, her husband, brothers; Lyle, and Paul Brooks,sisters Pauline, and Virginia.Friends may call at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2:00pm -8:00pm, where the family will be present from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 6:00pm-8:00pm to greet friends and share memories. Funeral services to celebrate her life will take place at 1:00pm on Thursday at the Kempf Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Cooks Prairie Cemetery.
