Leslie A. Erickson, 76, of Marshall, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2022, with his wife by his side at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor.
Les was born on April 18, 1946 to Elder and Phyllis (Erickson) Sandstrom in Roseau, MN. After high school, he served his country in the United States Navy from 1964-1968 as a Radioman 3 rd Class on the USS Oxford. On July 19, 1969, he married his best friend, Vicki Grotberg. He began his employment with Lakehead Pipeline in Minnesota in 1972, transferring and moving his family to Marshall, Michigan in 1977. He worked as a heavy equipment operator retiring in 2003, after 31 years of service. He was a beloved member of the Moose Lodge in Marshall and enjoyed many a good brew with his buddies. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling but, above all else, Les loved to spend time with his wife, his girls, his grandchildren, and his great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-three years Vicki Erickson; daughters, Monaya (Lance) Ballard, Monica Erickson; grandchildren, Eric (Jennifer) Lewallen, Whitney (Caleb) Miller, Andrea Cole, Burke Cole, Morgan (Utah) Bartholic, Stephanie (Kyle) Dieterman; great-grandchildren, Gavin Lewallen, Brantley McGregor, Hailey Miller, Cayden Spear, Grayson Yingling, Colson Yingling, Layton Bartholic, Ellie Cole; sisters, Charlotte (Billy) Dahl, Lisa (Gary) Hanson; brother, Peter (Janet) Sandstrom.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Andy Cole; his parents, Elder and Phyllis Sandstrom; and brother, Randy Sandstrom.
Friends may visit with the family from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Woodland Church - Marshall Campus, 15510 A Drive North, Marshall, MI 49068, where the memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Following the service a reception will be held at the church.
