Leonora “Norie” C. Bernath, of Marshall, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at Best Care East of Marshall, where she resided for the past 3 ½ years. She was born in Pulaski, MI on January 29, 1937, the daughter of the late Leon Traves and Catherine (Harding) Traves. On July 29, 1961, she married Douglas E. Bernath in Concord. The couple moved to the Marshall area in the mid 1960's. Norie loved to go camping and was a member of the Rainbow Chasers and the Cheerful Campers camping clubs. She was also a member of the Wrongway Thars square dance club. She is survived by daughters, Anna (Doug) Vahs, Cindy (Chris) Weimer, Brenda (Ron) Brininstool, and Ellen (Eric) Shepherd; grandchildren, Justin Hakes, Emily Vahs, and Adam Weimer; step-grandchildren, Brittnie Preston and Brandon Faurot; sisters, Margie Densmore and Gerri Hergert. She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas E. Bernath; her grandson, Heath Bernath Faurot; her sister, Betty Jarrell. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2020 at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 723 US Hwy 27 N, Marshall, MI 49068. Leonora will be interred in Pulaski Cemetery.
