Leonora Keathley, 89, of Battle Creek, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on July 10, 1934, to Christo and Sophia (Shurboff) Dimitri in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1952. Leonora worked as a Telephone Operator with Michigan Bell Telephone Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1983.
On August 24, 1958, she married Warren V. Keathley at Maple United Methodist Church in Battle Creek; sadly, he passed away on October 27, 2000. She was a member of St. Elias Eastern Orthodox Church in Battle Creek. She served on the church board and was a member of St. Mary's Sisterhood at the church. She was the secretary/treasurer for the Communications Workers of America Local #4031 in Battle Creek.
Leonora loved being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed her flower garden and working in the yard. Her family and friends were very important to her. She will be sadly missed for her very generous and gracious heart.
Leonora is survived by her loving her children; Carolyn (Robert) Smith of Battle Creek, Michigan; Michael W. Keathley of Grand Ledge, Michigan, David (Wendi) Keathley of Battle Creek, Michigan and her stepson, Rev. Donald (Linda) Keathley of Houston, Texas; her sister, Nancy Marie Dimitri of Battle Creek, Michigan; her grandchildren, Tony Vandegriff, Shelby Dukeman, Alexandra Keathley, Christian Keathley and Megan Keathley; and her great grandchildren, Alaila Vandegriff and Ellarie Dukeman.
She was preceded in death by her husband Warren, her parents, her grandson Travis Keathley and her friend, Ila Shenk.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at St. Elias Eastern Orthodox Church (5066 B Dr S Battle Creek, MI 49015).
Private funeral services will be held at St. Elias Eastern Orthodox Church, Battle Creek, Michigan, with the Very Reverend Arch Priest Lawrence Bacik, officiating.
Burial will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens in Battle Creek, Michigan.
Memorials are suggested to St. Elias Eastern Orthodox Church in Battle Creek, Michigan or Centrica Care Hospice.
