Lawrence "Larry" Paul Hamm, 91, of Olivet, Michigan passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on August 8, 1931 to Raymond and Mabel (Reavis) Hamm in St. Clair Shores, Michigan. He was a 1950 graduate of Romeo High School, after a couple years of odd jobs, on May 18, 1951 he enlisted into the United States Navy. Larry was honorably discharged on April 14, 1955 attaining the rank of Radioman Third Class.

On January 31, 1953, Larry married Sharon J. DeBarbrie in Romeo, Michigan.

Larry joined the family business, Air-Way Manufacturing after his honorable discharge from the Navy. The company was founded in Romeo, Michigan and moved to Olivet, Michigan in 1957. He started in Human Resources and retired as President of the company in 1998.

He was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Marshall and was an elder there as well, the Olivet Chamber of Commerce and the Olivet Eastern Star. Larry enjoyed camping, traveling, attending the Eaton County Fair, reading, especially history and true crimes, and organizing picture books. Larry will be greatly missed for his patience and his sense of humor. He wanted to make sure everyone felt comfortable and important. Above all else he loved his children and grandchildren.

Larry is survived by his children, Candice (Todd) Swayze of Olivet, Michigan, Sheryl (Chris) Ebaugh of Lansing, Michigan, Renee (David) Posigian of Lansing, Michigan and Steven Hamm of Lansing, Michigan; his grandchildren, Jereme (Alyssa) Ebaugh, Jason (Jodi) Ebaugh, Justin  Ebaugh, Jacob (Amanda) Ebaugh, Alexis Swayze, Tiffany Swayze, Dusten (Leslee) Hoffman, Jamie (Jack) Beckham, and Joshua (Jazmin) Hoffman; his great grandchildren, Ayla, Aidan, Kendahl, Caelum, Abraham, Victoria, Alexander, Niklaus, Haylei, Jack, Justin, Ayden  Alivia, Asher, Logan, Maia, Arissa, and Miki; his brother, Ronald (Dolores) Hamm of Marshall, Michigan and his sister, Laurie  Place of Marshall, Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Sharon JoAnne Hamm, his daughter, Joni Hoffman, his great grandson, Gabriel Ebaugh, and his brother, Gerald Hamm.

Visitation for Larry will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023, from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Kempf Family Funeral & Cremation Services, 723 US Hwy 27 N, Marshall, Michigan 49068.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, 12:30 pm at Zion Lutheran Church, 135 W. Green St., Marshall, Michigan, 49068 with Reverend Anthony Voltattorni, officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:30 am at the church prior to the memorial service. Burial will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan.

Memorial contributions may be directed to The Wounded Warrior Project or the American Cancer Society.
