Kimberly Kay (Hazel) Martinez

Kimberly Kay Martinez, 52, of Marshall, passed away on May 24, 2023.

Kimberly was born in Albion, Michigan on July 31, 1970, to Gerald Hazel and Carolyn Wright. She graduated from Homer High School and then attended Kellogg Community College, where she received her associate degree. She worked as a Registered Nurse for many years. Kimberly loved painting, especially with oils and acrylics. She loved to shop and was an avid collector of antiques. She would attend estate sales and collect all sorts of vintage items. She was a “huge” fan of Disney, especially Mickey Mouse and Winnie the Pooh. She made the most amazing brownies and chocolate covered strawberries because she was a great baker. However, what Kimberly adored the most was spending time with her loved ones, especially her precious loving daughter who meant the world to her.

Kimberly is survived by her daughter, Alecia Grace Renee Martinez; former husband, Fernando Martinez; mother, Carolyn Wright and step father, Donald Wright; one brother, Randy (Heidi) Hazel, and two sisters, her twin sister Tonya (William) Woodworth and Kathy Jo Ashley; nephews and nieces, William Woodworth, Alexandra Cotter, Rebecca Ditton, Christopher Ashley, Brandon Ashley, Nicholas Hazel, Maddison Hazel, Benjamin Woodworth, Madison Blowers, Elijah Hazel, Hunter Blowers, Izzabella Hazel; two bonus daughters, Kristina and Kendall Darner.

She was preceded in death by her father, Gerald Hazel; and brother, Tyler Wright.

Friends may visit with the family from 4 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 723 US Hwy 27 N, Marshall, MI 49068, where a funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2023.
