Kim Marie Konkle, affectionately known as “Aunt Kimmy” by her nieces and nephews, passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at the age of 65.

Kim was born on February 12, 1958 in Albion, Michigan to Theodore Roy and Joanne Jessie (Cunningham) Konkle. She attended the Doris Klaussen Developmental Center and was a resident of the Kambly Living Center where her friends and staff became family. When she was younger, Kim volunteered as maintenance for the Cheff Therapeutic Riding Center.

One of Kim’s all time favorite things to do was shopping, with jewelry as her favorite thing to buy. She loved to buy her friends little treats to let her know she was thinking about them. Kim loved McDonald’s chicken nuggets, those were her comfort food. She really enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews at Duck Lake swimming and going on pontoon rides. Through Community Inclusive Resources, Kim would go bowling at M-66 Bowl, go to cardio drumming, and dancing her heart out at the CIR dances. On Thursdays, Kim enjoyed going to Marion Burch Adult Daycare in Battle Creek where she enjoyed spending time with her friends. She enjoyed going to Crystal Mountain to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a family party. Kim was very involved in the Special Olympics, traveling with her parents to Mount Pleasant annually to participate in events such as dashing, walking, and the softball throw. She loved bike riding. Kim enjoyed attending summer camp at Camp Sunshine and Camp St. Francis. She looked forward to her annual trip to the Calhoun County Fair with her friends. Kim especially loved her faithful canine companion Stanley.

Kim is survived by her sisters, Kathi Konkle and Laura Konkle; nephews, Levi (Sarah) Konkle, Nathan Konkle, and Andrew Prosser; nieces, Angie Konkle, Samantha Konkle, Lauren Konkle, and Libby Prosser; great nieces and nephews, Ashley, Xavier, Chloe, Paige, Livia, Alaina, Hunter, Gabe, Mason, Brooklyn, Alysa, Dylan (Carmen), Madelyn, and Jaylin; many great-great nieces; a great-great nephew; and many cousins.
