Kevin Huffman

August 14, 1953 — October 30, 2021

Marshall

A tribute to Kevin Huffman, 68, of Marshall, Michigan.

Kevin was born to loving parents, Rachel (Houston) and Howard Huffman, on August 14, 1953. He grew up on a farm in Homer, MI, with his siblings: Alan (Corlinda), Jana (Doug), Damon (Anna) and Jamie (Alma). He had a wonderful childhood, developed a good work ethic, and enjoyed farm life.

He graduated from Homer High School, and later Albion College, where his favorite times were spent on the basketball court. Kevin was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Michigan State Spartans, Detroit Lions, and Detroit Tigers. His very favorite sports to watch, however, were those played by his children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews! He was fiercely loyal to sports teams, family and friends.

Kevin married Debra (Noakes) on Aug 7, 1983. Together, they farmed, ran a Pizza restaurant, & opened an Adult Foster Care facility. They enjoyed annual skiing trips, braved camping canoe weekends, relaxed in Daytona Beach on spring breaks, and frequented the Copper Bar with countless Marshall friends. Their most fulfilling experience, by far, was raising their three children and enjoying their grandchildren. Kevin was never the loudest in the room, but when he did speak, we listened.  Humble, kind, generous and patient, Kevin could calm most storms. His wise advice was invaluable.

Kevin spent the past 30 years in business with his brother and friend, Alan Huffman. Together they owned and operated a tire recycling business, Huffman Rubber. Kevin managed many employees through the years with a gentle spirit and humble leadership style. He was excellent at offering grace, helping others, solving problems, and seeing the very best in people.

Kevin’s legacy continues through those he loved the most; his loving wife Debra Huffman; his children, Amber (Seth) Clark, Justin (Becca) Huffman & Sarah Huffman; and his grandchildren, Gracen, Jace, Braxton, Avett, Cooper, Tucker, and Ryder.

Though he passed peacefully on October 30, 2021, we will continue to cherish the fond memories we have of Kevin and toast in his name often. Please join us to celebrate the irreplaceable husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend we knew as Kevin Huffman. The PARTY will take place on Saturday, November 20th at the Loyal Order of Moose, 1238 S. Kalamazoo Ave, Marshall MI 49068. Happy hour begins at 3:30 PM, followed by a tribute at 4:30 PM.

If you are inclined to make a memorial contribution, please consider the Homer Public Library, for Kevin never went far without a good western novel.
