Kenneth D. Swann

Kenneth D. Swann, 87 of Marshall, formerly of Ortonville, Michigan, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2023, at Bickford Assisted Living. He was born to Ray and Lora (Cline) Swann in Hayesville, North Carolina on March 29, 1936. He attended Hayesville High School. Ken had his pilot's license in his early twenties. He married and enjoyed many years with his beloved wife, Aletha Laree Lane, who proceeded him in death in 2021.

Ken was a carpenter by trade before joining General Motors and retired from their carpenter shop after 35 years in 2003. Ken was an animal lover; he rescued several dogs and cats. He also considered farming a hobby and he grew the best sweet corn ever. Ken was a member of AA and enjoyed thirty plus years of sobriety. He enjoyed traveling to The Great Smokey Mountains as this was his old stomping grounds, Ken had also traveled to Germany and Italy. After retirement he and his wife wintered in Holiday Florida where they enjoyed time with family.

Ken is survived by his daughters, Yalonda Marie Sell (Craig), Dawn Cheryl Holcomb (Ron) both of Marshall; grandchildren, Amanda Sell, Victoria Newnam (Kyle), Heather Berg (Marcus), Lane Holcomb, and Carly Holcomb. He was preceded in death by his wife, Aletha; parents, Ray and Lora Swann; and his siblings, Elmer, Irma, Lorena, Bill, Berlin, and Eddie.

Services have been entrusted to Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 723 US Hwy 27 N, Marshall, MI 49068. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 17, 2023, from 11:30 am - 12:30 pm, with a Memorial Service beginning at 12:30 pm, Pastor Travis Davis officiating. A Graveside Service will follow in Oakridge Cemetery, 614 Homer Road, Marshall, Michigan.
