Kenneth J. Harvey, 84, of Fredonia Township, died on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at his home surrounded by family following a short illness.
Ken was born on July 16, 1936 in Salyersville, Kentucky to Frank and Mabel (Ison) Harvey. He graduated from Union City High School in 1954, and later would earn an associate degree from Kellogg Community College. On June 17, 1957 he married Nancy L. Jenkins in Angola, Indiana. She preceded him in death on July 5, 2015.
Ken retired from the Kellogg Company after working for 40 years. Ken enjoyed family time with his children and grandchildren, sharing many stories with magnificent plots. He enjoyed hunting out west with friends and fishing, especially on the Columbia River in Oregon with his wife Nancy and brother in-law and sister in-law Neil and Gale Jenkins. He had a passion for cutting wood and enjoyed many hours on his farm in Ellis Corners working on the land.
He is survived by children, Ronald (Rosemary) Harvey and Brenda (Joe) Engels; grandchildren, Kelsey Harvey, Kaitlin (Drew) Zawacki, Gregory (Andi) Harvey, Charles Harvey, Hunter Engels, and Haley-Jo Engels; and two great-grandchildren, Gunner and Leo, his brother Steve (Dawn) Harvey of Virginia, sister in-law Gail Jenkins of Oregon and Maxine Jenkins of South Carolina and several nieces and nephews and special friend Nancy MacDonald of Union City Mi.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy of 58 years; daughter Robin E. Vogel; and siblings James Harvey and Betty Brown and brother in laws Ron Jenkins and Neil Jenkins.
Visitation will take place from 4-7pm on Friday June 4, 2021 at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services 723 US Hwy 27 N Marshall MI 49068. A memorial service will take place at 11am on Saturday June 5, 2021 at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services 723 US Hwy 27 N Marshall MI 49068. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.
