Kelly Kempton-Bunn, 52, of Marshall, Michigan, died on Friday, December 16,2022 at home surrounded by her family.
Kelly was born to Asa Kempton and Brenda Goodman. She is survived by her loving husband, “the love of her life” Kevin, daughter, Mia, sisters, Amy Brehm, Kristen Kempton, Misti (Jesse) Cody and Tiffany (Josh) Crapo; stepdaughters, Ellie and Grace Bunn; in laws, Russell (Ellen) Bunn; sister-in-law, Erin (Brian) Gorham. Kelly is preceded in death by her 18 year old daughter, Ava Sory; father, Asa Kempton, step-mom, Deborah, grandmother Goodman and cousin Steven (Todd) Murphy.
Kelly graduated from Battle Creek Lakeview High School in 1989. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from North Carolina State University in Psychology. Kelly completed her Master of Arts in counseling from Spring Arbor University in 2020.
Kelly enjoyed reading, listening to all genres of music, researching topics related to her clients and spending time with family and friends. Kelly liked to vacation in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and in North Carolina. Kevin and Kelly’s favorite place was Sleeping Bear Dunes.
Kelly was a stay-at-home mom, until Mia turned 3 years old. Kelly returned to work as a foster care worker and then a Family Reunification Worker until she was unable to work in 2022 due to her illness.

The family will gather for a memorial service on Saturday, January 7, 2022 at 11:00 am with visitation beginning at 9:30 am at First Baptist Church in Tekonsha, followed by a luncheon in the church fellowship hall.
The family requests in lieu of flowers contributions may be directed toward medical and funeral expenses. Kelly will be laid to rest in North Carolina next to her daughter Ava Sory.
