Keith L. Rapp

Keith L. Rapp, 84, of Battle Creek, passed away on June 21, 2023, peacefully after a long illness. He was born on November 28, 1938, to Preston and Gladys (Huggett) Rapp in Convis Twp, Michigan. Keith was a graduate of Marshall High School, Class of 1957. He worked for Clark Equipment until they shut their doors, then became a transporter for the Detroit Free Press. As an adult, Keith resided both in and near his childhood home in Battle Creek, Michigan.

He really was a jack of all trades, dabbling in just about everything. Keith built several sheds, barns and even a family cabin in Wexford County. He was very good with his hands and could build anything. In his earlier years, he enjoyed ice fishing, hunting and trapping muskrats. He loved being outdoors in general, gardening and cutting wood were some of his favorite things to do.

Keith was an avid coin collector and beer stein collector. While he enjoyed sharing conversation over coffee with his buddies, spending time with family was very important to him. He loved sharing stories with his grandsons Andrew and Jordan.

Keith is survived by his daughters, Sherrie Collins of Dowagiac, Beth Rapp of Battle Creek, and Kim (Ron) Smith of Battle Creek; grandsons, Andrew (Holly Cary) Rapp of Marshall, and Jordan Rapp of Battle Creek; sisters, June Allen, Darlene (Rapp) Dally; and also many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by parents, Preston and Gladys Rapp; brothers, Donald, Darrell, Norman, and Bruce; sister, Mary (Rapp) Ward; and ex-wife and friend, Jean Yaudes.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 5th from 2 – 4 p.m. and 5 – 8 p.m. at Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 723 US Hwy 27 N, Marshall, MI 49068. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 6th also at the funeral home, with visitation from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. and funeral ceremony beginning at 12 p.m., Pastor Brandon Crawford officiating, closing with military honors. Private burial will take place later in Austin Cemetery of Convis Township.
