Kathleen (Kathy) Ann Vandy Bogurt-Scott, 80, passed away at her home on October 26, 2022. She was born November 7, 1941 in Alto, MI to John Linwood (Ted) Scott and Laura Ella (Beebe) Scott. During a summer vacation in Marshall, Michigan with her sister Dorothy Devenney (Scott) she met the love of her life, Jack Lynn Vandy Bogurt on a blind date at a tennis court dance back in 1958. They were later married on August 13, 1960 at the Alto Methodist Church with the Rev. Leonard Rowell officiating and settled in Marshall and raised a family. Kathy was a graduate of Caledonia High School. For more than 62 years Kathy has dedicated her life to raising a family, working and serving their church and other Marshall community organizations, including the Marshall Home Tour. Living with Multiple Sclerosis for more than 40 years herself, she turned her misfortune into an opportunity to serve others. Kathy coordinated a local chapter for self-help and support for people and families coping with MS. She was the chairperson of the Marshall Area Multiple Sclerosis Support Group. In 1998, Kathy was honored as volunteer of the year and for her efforts with Lyve House, a residential assisted living home for those suffering with MS.

The impact Kathy made on those that she encountered was immeasurable. She was always open to make a new friend. Her laughter and smile was contagious and her determination despite her physical challenges, inspiring. Her many gifts included sharing stories and memories with messages of support, hope and love of all those that surrounded her. She is also known for her dance fortitude with the love of her life, Jack Vandy Bogurt that proceeded her in death on July 14, 2022. May they be dancing together in heaven.
