Karen Sue (Waisner) Sprague

Karen Sue Sprague, 73, of Homer, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 under the loving care of family at her daughter’s home in Coldwater.

She was born on December 30, 1948 to Clifford and Dorotha (Maisner) Waisner in Marshall. Karen was a 1967 graduate of Homer High School.

On June 28, 1969 she married Gary Sprague in Homer, sadly he preceded her in death in 2011.

Karen worked at Homer Public Schools for 45 years as a lunchroom aide, playground aide, middle school secretary, athletic secretary, transportation supervisor and attendance clerk.

Karen’s greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed watching any activity that her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were involved in. Karen also had fun going to the casino, playing cards or games, camping, quilting, dancing, watching dirt track racing and the game show network or the Hallmark Channel.

She is survived by her children; Ronda (Kevin Krieg) Sprague of Coldwater and Randy (Natasha Conley) Sprague of Homer, her grandchildren; Brittany (Nathan) Wilber of Quincy, Karli (Justice) Parker of Tekonsha, Dakota Sprague of Homer, Ashley Sprague of Homer, and Dylan (Rylan Kiomento) Sprague of Homer, her great grandchildren; Knox Wilber, Ellison Parker and Lainey Wilber, her brothers; Kevin Nichols and Raymond (Vickie) Waisner, her sisters; Judy Waffle and Linda (Ken) Herman. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Karen was preceded in death by her husband Gary, her mother, father, stepfather Bruce Nichols, sister; Donna Hampton and nephew; Chad Geer.

Visitation for Karen will take place on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 from 3:00 – 8:00 pm at Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 303 S Hillsdale St, Homer, MI 49245.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at the funeral home with Celebrant Melanie Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Homer.
