Julie I. (Volstromer) Joshick

Julia I. Volstromer Joshick, age 91, of Battle Creek, passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022. She had made her home at the Heritage Assisted Living in Battle Creek. Julie was born on April 27, 1930, in Ecorse, MI, to Ignatius and Julie (Weibel) Volstromer. The family moved to Marshall in 1943 to begin operating the family farm in Convis Twp. Julie graduated from Marshall High School in 1947 and married Dwight Joshick of Olivet on January 20, 1950. That marriage ended in divorce.

While married, Julie worked as an executive secretary in Marshall, Battle Creek, Batavia, IL and in Florida. She returned to Battle Creek in 1983 and began working for Barker Mfg. in their Marketing and Sales Departments. She retired in 2000.

Julie, always a very active and social person, took great pride in her home and gardens. She and her long-time companion and best friend, Russ Harrison, traveled extensively.

She is predeceased by her parents; brothers Edward and Eugene Volstromer; sisters, Vilma Wilkins and Barbara Volstromer; and Russ Harrison. Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Woolston of Decatur, GA; brothers, James (Diane) Volstromer of Marshall, Donald Volstromer or Frederic, MI, sister, Helen Ball of Battle Creek; special friend, Karen Harrison Fulcher; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit with the family from 10 – 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 723 US Hwy 27 N, Marshall, MI 49068. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Jacob Washburn will officiate the service with interment to follow in Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens in Battle Creek.
