Judith "Judy" Kay Lazarus

Judith "Judy" Kay Lazarus, 81, of Homer, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Medilodge of Marshall.  
She was born on December 7, 1942 to Henry and Ethel (Stein) Hills in Dearborn, Michigan. Judy graduated from Dearborn Edsel Ford High School.
On December 14, 1968, Judy married William Lazarus in Albion, Michigan. On their honeymoon trip to northern Michigan, they stopped at Arby's Restaurant and that became her favorite fast-food restaurant. Judy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Homer. She worked for the Handleman Company as a saleswoman, selling records and greeting cards to retail stores in the surrounding Homer area. Because of her desire to help people, she then opened her business Roadrunner Services by Judy, which was a driving service for businesses and people. 
Judy will be sadly missed for her kindness, her gracious and caring heart and for being the best Mom, Grandma, and homemaker. She always made sure to send birthday and anniversary cards with her signature touch of two hearts on the back of the envelope to family and friends. Judy would make a point to proudly sing Happy Birthday to all her family on their special day. Christmas was her favorite holiday, she always made sure every grandchild had a gift, no matter what! Judy enjoyed sewing, as she made many of her children and grandchildren clothes, reading books, magazines and listening to Motown, Christian and Christmas music.
Judy is survived by her loving spouse of almost 55 years, William "Bill", her daughters, Jill (Rodney) Mestdagh of Homer, Michigan; Jaye (Frank) Steinman of Three Rivers, Michigan and daughter-in-law Lisa Lazarus of Jackson, Michigan; her stepchildren, Bill (Dawn) Lazarus of Albion, Michigan; Ellen (Paul) Newman of Albion, Michigan and Debbie (Dennis) Torrey of Albion, Michigan. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren, with another great granddaughter due very soon. 
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, John Lazarus and her brother, Roger Hills.
Visitation for Judy will be held Wednesday, December 13, 2023, from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm at Kempf Family Funeral & Cremation Services, 303 S. Hillsdale Street, Homer, Michigan 49245 with the funeral service following at 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Pastor Steve Kazar, officiating.
Burial will take place at West Eckford Cemetery, Eckford Township, Michigan.
