Joseph G Nagel

Joseph G. Nagel, 65, of Homer, passed away on December 21, 2023 surrounded by his family. 

He was born on June 18, 1958 to Lester B. and Julia K. (Pinke) Nagel in Coldwater, MI. Joe graduated from Oivet College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. He owned and operated Nagel Meat Processing in Homer, Michigan. Joe was a very giving man, he would donate not only meat from his business but also money to various charities and anyone who was in need. If someone came to his meat market at closing time, Joe would stay late to serve anyone who needed help. A few of his donations went to the Calhoun County Fair, VFW and church’s in the area. He loved his show cattle and he enjoyed watching Tiger Baseball and Detroit Lions. Joe loved his family, as he would always put them first. 

Joe is survived by his longtime companion, Sheryl McDonald of Homer; children, Jeanette DePue of Gowen, MI, Cindy Vineo of Homer; grandchildren, Cassie Baker, Alex Baker, Makkayla Barkley, Haley DePue, Lily DePue, Ashley Carpenter, Tory Vineo, Brylan Vineo, Brian McDonald III, Kaleb McDonald; great-grandchildren, Kenzleigh and Emerson; sisters, Gladys Gibbons, Mary Shakinis, Ruth DeVos, Rose O’Donnell, Linda Tatar, Leslie Reagle; brothers, Martin and Michael Nagel. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Brian McDonald II; brother, John G. Nagel; sisters, Teresa Ann Nagel and Joyce Ciotta.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2023, 2:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Kempf Family Funeral & Cremation Services, Homer, Michigan. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. 
     
Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023, 10:00 am at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 150 Taylor St., Coldwater, MI with Reverend Daniel Hyman celebrant. 

Burial will take place in the Riverside Cemetery in Tekonsha, Michigan. Folllowing the burial there will be a luncheon at Homer Community House, 112 W. Adams St., Homer, MI.
