Joseph G. "Joe" Katona

JOSEPH G."JOE" KATONAJoseph G. "Joe" Katona, 74, of Marshall, formerly of Treton, and Windber, PA died on Friday, August 25, 2006 at Oaklawn Hospital.Mr. Katona was born on February 11, 1932, in Windber, Pennsylvania, to Joseph A. and Anna (Toth) Katona. He graduated from Winder High School in 1950. He then attended the University of Pittsburgh. Mr. Katona served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War from 1951-55. He retired as a supervisor from the Dearborn, Rouge Steel division of the Ford Motor Company in 1987, after 35 years. He was also very active in the Taylor Masonic Lodge. Mr. Katona enjoyed hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed trap shooting and shooting his black powder muzzle loader.He is survived by his sister Valerie Katona of Marshall, and numerous cousins. Family will greet and share memories with friends at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home on Saturday from 4:00pm-9:00pm with a Masonic service taking place at 7:00pm. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Sunday at 2:00pm at the funeral home. A graveside service will take place at 11:00am on Tuesday August 29 at Richland Cemetery in Johnstown PA. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association.
