John (Jack) Marcel Herman, age 89, of Marshall, Michigan, went to meet his Heavenly Father on February 28th, 2022, at Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall, Michigan. Jack was born on his family farm on July 28th, 1932 in Marshall, Michigan to Rene and Irma (Clarehout) Herman. Jack was a graduate of Marshall High School, class of 1950. He served our country during the Korean War from 1955-1957 and later worked at Kellogg’s for over 30 years. On April 27th, 1957, Jack married his best friend, Jacqueline (Jackie) Mae Herman (Krumm). They enjoyed traveling together, camping, visiting the Calhoun County fair, gardening, and raising their family. To Jack, family was everything and he was most passionate about spending time with his children and grandchildren. Whether it was farm work, gardening projects, or 4-H show animals, Jack was always found to lend a helping and supportive hand to family and taught the importance of hard work, faith, and compassion. Jack is survived by his two children, John (Chelly) Herman and Kathy (Mike) Peters, his grandchildren, Jack and Josie Herman, Emily (Jordan) Stoler, and Bryar Peters. Jack was preceded in death by his lovely bride, Jackie, and siblings, Pauline Clothilde, Irma Regina, George Rene, James Maurice, Rene Charles, Paul Emile, Joseph Henry, Mary Louise, Robert Mark, and Richard Leo.
Jack will be dearly missed and warmly remembered.
Visitation with the family will be Thursday, March 3rd, 2022 from 4-7pm at Kempf Funeral Home (723 US HWY 27 North, Marshall, MI 49068) with the Vigil service at 7:00 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Jack on Friday, March 4th, 2022 at 10am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church (212 Hanover Street, Marshall, MI 49068). Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Marshall with a military honors..
Memorial donations may be made to Calhoun County Fairgrounds.
