John Kedo

John Kedo, age 87, of Marshall died Sunday November 30, 2008 at home in the loving care of his wife.Mr. Kedo was born January 3, 1921 in Albion, Michigan to Martin and Natalia Ruddick. John attended Albion schools and graduated from Albion High School in 1939. He met and married Ethel Dillion in 1947, and celebrated 61 years of marriage to his sweetheart in April of this year. John retired from Hayes Albion in 1987, after 47 years of service in the shipping department where he worked as the manager and head of that department.John loved to play baseball, fish, hunt and garden. In his younger years he enjoyed taking his wife dancing. John loved to be outdoors and enjoyed watching the birds and the deer around his property.John served in the US Military (Army) from 1942, until 1945 where he earned 3 bronze stars for his service at Normandy, in Northern France, and in Central Europe during WWII.He is survived by his wife, Ethel, children: Marilyn (Roger) Shreve, Barbara Holmes, Kay (Robert) Armour, Terry (Sharon) Kedo, Jeffrey Kedo, Angelia (Gary) Van der Leek, Melissa Kedo, and honorary daughter Mary Oldham. He is also survived by two sisters, Sonya Bowermaster, and Sophie Stuck, 10 grandchildren, 9 great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his dad Peter Kedo, mother and step-father, brothers Mike Kedo, and Alex Ruddick, sisters Natalia Kedo, and Anna Harris, and son-in-law Kenneth Holmes.Visitation will be at Kempf Funeral Home in Marshall Tuesday, December 2, from 2pm until 8 pm with family present from 2-4, and 6-8. Graveside services will be Wednesday Dec. 3, at Fort Custer National Cemetery at 2:30pm. The family requests memorial donations to Great Lakes Hospice.
