John Louis Bibbings

John L. Bibbings, 92, of Marshall, passed away on March 10, 2024 at Oaklawn Hospital, Marshall, MI. He was born on November 11, 1931 to Harvey H. and Verina (Rowse) Bibbings in Battle Creek, MI. On December 8, 1951 he married Joan M. McManus in Battle Creek and she preceded him in death on March 24, 2006. John served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict, he was stationed in New Port, Rhode Island. John worked for the Kellogg Cereal Company starting in 1950 and retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Kellogg 25yr Club. 

 

John was a kind and gentle man, and he was very proud of his grandkids. He loved his yard and gardening in it. He enjoyed the ladies that took care of him at Marshall Comfort Care. While John was there, he enjoyed feeding the birds outside his window. He enjoyed being a Cub Scout Leader and making small boxes from knots in trees. 

 

John is survived by his sons, John H. (Deborah) Bibbings of Marshall, MI, Jim (Judy) Bibbings of St. Joseph, MI; grandchildren, Jessica (Tim) Galinis, John Michael (Elyse) Bibbings, James (Amanda) Bibbings, Jordan (Maggie) Bibbings; special niece and nephew, Susan (Tom) Kay; 8 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.  

 

He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Charles Bibbings, Doris Bibbings, Jim Bibbings and Eileen Stanton.

 

There will be a committal service at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Michigan on Friday, May 10, 2024 at 12:00pm. Cremation has taken place. 

 

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kempf Family Funeral & Cremation Services, 723 US Hwy 27 N, Marshall, MI 49068.
