Joan Faye (Court) Porter

Joan Faye Porter, 75, of Dowling, Michigan, passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at home.

She was born on June 8, 1946 to James and Eva (Clark) Court in Albion, Michigan. Joan graduated from Albion High School and attended Michigan State University.  Joan along with her husband Butch co-owned the Insurance Network Agency, Inc. in Battle Creek since 1985. On August 4, 1979 she married Harrison "Butch" Porter in Battle Creek, Michigan.

Joan will be sadly missed by those who knew her for her love of life and her caring selfless personality. She was an excellent cook and loved having family and friends over to enjoy her meals. Everyone was welcome at their, home and no one left hungry. Above all else, Joan loved her family with all her heart and always made sure they were taken care of in sickness and in health. She enjoyed the outdoors, going to Canada, lounging around the swimming pool, playing games on her tablet, and reading.

Joan is survived by her best friend and husband; Harrison "Butch", her children; Lance (Patricia) Johnson of Battle Creek, Michigan, Laura Johnson of Battle Creek, Michigan and Lisa (Mark) Harvey of Battle Creek, Michigan,, her grandchildren;, Brittany Johnson of Battle Creek, Michigan, Brandi Johnson of Battle Creek, Michigan, Kailee Havlock of Portage, Michigan, Annie Havlock of Portage, Michigan, Kendall Johnson of Battle Creek, Michigan, Mackenzie Johnson of Battle Creek, Michigan, Christopher Havlock of Battle Creek, Michigan, Alexa (Robert) Martin of Cary, North Carolina, Michael Harvey of Indianapolis, Indiana and Brooks Sebright of Woodstock, Georgia, her great grandaughters, Jenna Travis of Battle Creek, Michigan and Livi Travis of Battle Creek, Michigan, her siblings; Lynn (Pam) Court of Ft. Myers, Florida and Gwen (Dan) Harrison of Anna Marie Island, Florida, Joan is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her infant brother.

Visitation for Joan will take place on Friday, December 10, 2021, from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at Kempf Family Funeral & Cremation Services, 2838 Capital Ave. SW Battle Creek Michigan 49015 with funeral services at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Martha Porter-Reid officiating. Interment will follow at Battle Creek Memorial Park Cemetery.
