Jean M. (Wells) Allen

Jean Margaret (Wells) Allen, 85, of Marshall, passed away on April 1, 2022, peacefully with her loving family at her side.

She was born on June 3, 1936, to Paul and Laura (Brott) James in Battle Creek, MI.  She attended school at Battle Creek Central and onto Argubright Business College.  Jean worked as an Inspector for Kellogg’s for almost 35 years.  She married Robert Allen in 1986.  Jean and Robert lived in Marshall, Michigan.  Jean loved to decorate and had a keen eye for detail and design.  She absolutely loved to shop.  She enjoyed finding purses, even hosting purse parties where she would sell many of the purses she found in her travels.  Jean and her husband Bob wintered in Florida for many years. Jean’s pride and joy was her family and loved to brag about her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to anyone she met.

Jean is survived by her husband Robert; Daughter, Ronda (Don) Souva of Sherwood, MI; Son, Ron (Crissy) Wells of Ceresco, MI; Stepchildren, Greg, Debra and Jolene; Grandchildren, Dan Peluso, Payton Wheeler, Tiffany and Andrew Allen; Great-Grandchildren, Danielle Peluso and Noah; and sisters, JoAnn Cole, Shirley Lemke, and Mary Knell.

She was preceded in death by her Father, Paul K James and Mother, Laura E James. Sisters, Dorothy Mast, Alvina West and Patsy Hayes and Brother, Jay Wolverton.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2022, 5:00pm - 7:00pm at Kempf Family Funeral & Cremation Services, Marshall, Michigan. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2022, 12:00pm at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 723 US Hwy 27 N, Marshall, MI 49068, with Pastor Steven Olmstead officiating. Burial will take place in Floral Lawn Memorial Garden, in Battle Creek, MI, following the service.

The family would like to give a very special thank you to In-Home Companions and Staff of Kalamazoo, MI. Also to Oaklawn Hospice of Marshall.  They all went above and beyond caring for Jean.
