James Harold Page, age 78, of Marshall and formerly of Battle Creek died Friday evening Friday 16, 2016 at his home in the loving care of his family.Mr. Page was born on December 12, 1937 in Sullivan, Indiana to Everett Charles and Juanita (McDaniels) Page. He has been a resident of the Marshall area since 1980 moving here from Battle Creek. While living in Battle Creek, Jim had been employed by Hoffman Brothers Excavating Company for over 40 years. He was an expert heavy equipment operator and retired as a foreman and engineer for the company.On July 19, 1985, he married the former Laura Elsie VanNortwick in Fremont, Indiana.Jim was a hardworking man. He enjoyed woodworking and fixing anything that needed fixing. He was always eager to help his family and friends with projects. His family remembers Jim as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was always at his grandchildren's activities and loved family gatherings. Everyone would comment that Jim was, "just a nice guy".Jim had always been an active walker though out his life and he also enjoyed going to the casinos.He is survived by his wife, Laura; children, Steven Page, Jimmy Page, David Page and Beth Page; step-daughter, Shannon (Paul) Aikins of Marshall; step-son, Tim (LaSondra) Wetherill of Battle Creek; 16 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren; sisters, Janet (Ed) Bruso, Nancy (Jerry) Choloey; brother, Chuck (Leeann) Page; and numerous nieces and nephews.A private family service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by the Craig K. Kempf Family Funeral Homes, Marshall Chapel.Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to the Jackson County Humane Society or the Oaklawn Hospice. Assistance with memorials is available at the funeral home.
