James Eugene Marietta

James Eugene Marietta, 94, of Coldwater, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at his home.

He was born on October 10, 1927, to Ralph and Nellis (Johnson) Marietta in Battle Creek, Michigan. He attended school at Battle Creek Central High School.

Jim worked for Grand Trunk Railroad in Battle Creek for 25 years and was part owner of the Verona Lounge. He obtained his pilots license in 1949 and was member of the Battle Creek Flying Club. He was as honorary crew member of the Red Baron Stearman Squadron. He was married to Ardis DeCam and Tresa Neubaum, both ended in divorce. He married Naomi J. Seymour in 1972 in Las Vegas, they moved to Florida and owned the Palma Sola Club in Bradenton and then went into the cleaning and maintenance business before retiring to the mountains of North Carolina. Jim enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, flying, and traveling in their travel trailer. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

James is survived by his step-grandson, Josh (Jennifer) Uldriks of Marshall, Michigan; his step-great-grandson, Jevin Uldriks of Marshall, Michigan and step-great-granddaughter, Jorja Uldriks of Marshall, Michigan; and his nephew, Steve Arney.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Bobby Marietta and sister, Marie Arney; his stepson, Rolla “Skip” Uldriks; and his wife, Naomi Marietta.

A graveside service for Jim will take at 2:30 PM on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, 15501 Dickman Rd., Augusta, MI 49012. He would be pleased if you remember him by “Passing it Forward” and being kind to animals.
