James (Jim) A. Beattie, 88 of Marshall MI passed away peacefully on August 24, 2022. Jim was a lifelong resident of Marshall with a stint away for military service in the Army.  Jim was preceded in death by his wife Beverly Beattie, his parents Leland & Thelma Beattie and sister Lorretta Nobbs. He is survived by his two brothers Donald Beattie & Alfred (Heidi) Beattie, four Children - Kirk (Stephanie) Rogers, Tim (Emily) Beattie, Cindy (Karl) Heath, Lori Miller, 12 Grand Children and 9 Great Grand Children.  Jim will be cremated and placed in his favorite hunting blind.

Jim excelled in multiple sports especially playing football for the Marshall Redskins making varsity all 4 years, served as Co-Captain his senior year and was named an All-State Tackle and to the All Twin-Valley Offensive football team his Junior and senior years. Jim served the Marshall community as a Mail Carrier, Policeman & Volunteer Firefighter.  He also worked as a Carpenter for Rhodes Construction and then finished off his working career at Ralston Purina making Frosted Flakes in Battle Creek.

Jim was an avid hunter and fisherman – Loved hunting & fishing with his father & brothers.  He also enjoyed eating almost as much – The crew at Denny’s got to see him and take care of him daily prior to the pandemic which he truly appreciated & enjoyed bantering with everyone that served his many meals there.

We can’t thank enough those that took care of Jim since 2020 – Jim’s daughter Cindy Heath who bore the brunt of the work managing his care while the rest of us popped in and out, the staff at the Villa at Winston Court and the Oaklawn Hospice team that took care of him in his final days.

The family asks that instead of flowers, contributions be made to Oaklawn Hospice.
