Jack Mark Young

Battle Creek

Jack ( Mark ) Young, age 70 of Battle Creek, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 8th, 2023 surrounded by his loved ones. Mark was born on April 28th, 1952 to E. Jack and Maralynn (Canfield) Young in Grand Rapids, MI. Mark attended North Western Michigan Maritime Academy. He was later employed with United States Steele Company where he served on the following ships the Pargney, the Irving, the Cason J. Calloway and the Roger Blough.  Mark worked at several other jobs over the course of his life, including Colfax Mfg., Walker Mfg. and sold cars in Texas.  The job he loved the most was operating his own coffee shop in downtown Marshall called Expresso Yourself.   Mark was a member of Woodland Church of Battle Creek.

In 1975, Mark married Terri L. Wilson and they had two children, Jack B. Young and Melissa I. Young.

Mark was an avid woodworker.  He especially enjoyed doing intricate fret work. Mark also loved boating, both pleasure and for fishing which is something he enjoyed with his father and his brother. The most important thing in Marks life were his children and his grandchildren. For the last several years of his life Mark made a habit of calling his daughter and his granddaughters with one goal in mind. That goal was to simply make them smile each day.

Mark is survived by his former spouse Terri Lynn Young of Battle Creek; his daughter, Melissa Todd of Battle Creek; his granddaughters, Kalei Olcheske of Battle Creek and Jaleesa Todd of Battle Creek; his sister, Suzanne (Thomas) Jones of Diamondale and his brother, Paul (Diane) Young of Alpena: his sisters-in-law, Sue (Carl) Binkley of Marshall and Sandra (Ryan) Pell of Iron River, Michigan: his brothers-in-law, Steven (Cindy) Wilson of Colorado, Randy (Amy) Wilson of Athens, Kevin (Tammy) Westin of West Frankfort, Illinois, Michael Westin of Benton, Illinois and Robert Caskey of Benton, Illinois and sister-in-law, Sandra Wilson of Albion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Jack B. Young and his brother-in-law William Wilson.

A Celebration of Life for Mark will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the family would be appreciated.
