Iris M. ShookIris M. Shook, age 89, of Marshall died Friday, July 14, 2006 at her home in the loving care of her family.Mrs. Shook was born on February 11, 1917 in Durham, Ontario, Canada to Harry and Olive Hugill. She had been a resident of Marshall since May 8, 2000, moving here from Roscommon, Michigan. Iris had lived at Higgins Lake for 30 years prior to moving to Roscommon. In her youth, she lived in the Battle Creek area and was a graduate of Battle Creek Central High School, class of 1935. She was retired from the Kellogg Company. Mrs. Shook had also worked as a baker at Goedde''s Bakery.She was preceded in death by her first husband James Heflin. On March 18, 1972, she married Oscar Shook. He preceded her in death on October 1, 2001.Iris attended the Family Bible Church in Marshall and was a past member of the Good Shepherd of the North United Methodist Church in Roscommon. She was an avid Bridge player and enjoyed playing cards at the Marshall Country Club and the National House Inn. Iris was a very talented seamstress and made many of her children''s clothing in their youth. She also enjoyed playing golf and knitting. She will be greatly missed by her constant companion, Truman, her loving cat.She is survived by daughters, Judith (Archie) Henderson of Apache Junction, AZ, Martha (Floyd) Eagen-Bennett of Duck Lake, Merrie (Van) Phillips of Carmel, IN,; sons, Jim (Barbara) Heflin and Mike (Marlene) Heflin both of Battle Creek; 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Heather Heflin; and great granddaughter, Madelyne T. Huff.A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 19 at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
