Ila Burrows Weinschenk

Ila W. (Stine) Burrows Weinschenk, age 92, of Unionville formerly of Marshall and Battle Creek, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2008 at Vadavilla AFC in Unionville. Ila was born Dec. 15, 1915 in Battle Creek to William and Addie Stine. She graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1933. Ila worked at Kelloggs for several years becoming floor lady on the night shift of K-Rations. She married William R. Burrows on Easter Sunday April 17, 1938. The couple lived in Tekonsha until moving back to Battle Creek in 1941 when Mr. Burrows started to work for Michigan National Bank. Ila was very active in the First Presbyterian Church in both Battle Creek and Marshall, serving as President of the Women''s Association in Battle Creek. When the family moved back to Marshall in 1957 she worked at State Farm Insurance Company Regional Office. Mr. Burrows preceded her in death in 1961. She then purchased the Fondra Store, then located at the corner of Eagle Street and Michigan Avenue. She and her son operated "Burrows'' Store" there until 1967. On April 17, 1967 she married Jack A. Weinschenk of Ann Arbor. He preceded her in death May 10, 1997. Ila is survived by her son and daughter-in-law William D. and Suzanne Burrows of Sebewaing, MI; grandsons Nicholas (Kathy) Burrows of Dublin, CA and Charles (Vanessa) Burrows of Essexville, MI ; great-granddaughters Isabela and Greta of California and great-grandsons Evan and Ethan of Essexville; niece Guila Bailes of Battle Creek; nephews Kenneth (Janet) Phelps of Florida and Delbert (Barbara) Bowdish of Battle Creek. She was also preceded in death by sisters Eleanor Phelps and Bernadean Bowdish, and brother Wilson Stine, and several nieces and nephews-in-law. Friends may call at Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 5PM to 8PM where family will be present to greet friends and share memories. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 22 at 2PM at the Kempf Funeral Home. Cremation will follow services. A fellowship will follow at First Presbyterian Church.
