Heather (Butler) Benfield

Heather Benfield, 89, of Battle Creek, MI died March 19, 2022, at Legacies Assisted Living in Caledonia, Michigan. She was born on March 1, 1933, in Battle Creek to Oswald and Mary (Fowlie) Butler. She graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1951. On August 18, 1951, she married her high school sweetheart, Benny J. Benfield in Indiana and together they celebrated 68 years of marriage.

Heather worked for Michigan National Bank for ten years. She attended Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. Heather and Benny spent fifty years at their cottage on Big Star Lake in Baldwin, Michigan and they also spent many winters in Sebring, Florida. Heather enjoyed reading, flower gardening, golfing, and traveling.

She is survived by her son, Barry (Delisa) Benfield of Caledonia; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Heather was preceded in death by her parents; son, Bradley Benfield in 2016; husband, Benny Benfield in 2019; and brother, William Butler.

Services have been entrusted to Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 723 US Hwy 27 N, Marshall, MI 49068 where visitation will be held on Friday, March 25, 2022, at 11:00am and the memorial service begins at 11:30am with Pastor Steve Olmstead officiating, and a luncheon to follow. Private burial will take place later that afternoon at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens, 1490 Michigan Ave E, Battle Creek, MI 49014.
