Guffery Franklin Shirley

Guffery Franklin Shirley, 88, of Marshall, passed away on March 12, 2022, at Calhoun County Medical Care Facility.

He was born on July 12, 1933, to Paul and Bess (Wells) Shirley in St. Joe, AR. He proudly served in the US Army. On August 5, 1955, he married Modene White in Angola, IN. Guffery worked at Crowel Carton Company for many years, then changed careers becoming self-employed as an automobile mechanic for and additional thirty-four years. Among other things Guffery enjoyed motorcycles and fishing most.

Guffery is survived by his son, U. Frank Shirley of Athens, MI; Grandchildren, Robert F. Shirley of Myrtle Beach, SC, Scarlett A. Shirley of Grand Rapids, MI, Taylor N. Shirley of Battle Creek, MI; as well as Great-grandchildren, Modene M. Shirley of Myrtle Beach, SC and Brookelynn M. Carpenter of Battle Creek, MI.

He was preceded in death by wife, Modene Shirley, parents, Paul and Bess Shirley and stepson, Robert Howard McCasland who died in the US Air Force on July 4, 1963.

Services have been entrusted to Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, Marshall Chapel, 723 US Hwy 27 N, Marshall, MI 49068. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 17, 2022, 12:00 pm at Kempf Family Funeral & Cremation Services, Marshall Chapel and the funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm. With Pastor Steve Olmstead officiating. A committal service with military honors will follow in the Chapel of Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens, 1490 Michigan Ave E, Battle Creek, MI 49068.
