Homer

Gloria “Glo” Jean Bowman,75, of Homer passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on July 6, 2024. Gloria was a devoted Christian and battled two decades of chronic progressive Multiple Sclerosis from which she succumbed to her disease.

Gloria was born to Bernard Eppley and Virginia (Williams) Jolly on July 29, 1948 in Zanesville, Ohio. On May 27, 1977 Gloria married James Bowman and shortly thereafter they moved to Michigan.

Gloria was a registered Nurse for 30 years, working at Litchfield Manor, Marshall Manor and was especially proud of being a certified OB Nurse at Albion Hospital. In the mid 1990’s, Gloria opened and managed Beach Glo Tanning Salon for several years in downtown Homer.

Her hobbies included league bowling, flower gardening and shopping. She also dabbled in hunting and was lucky enough to shoot a 10-point buck. Due to the progression of her disease, she was unable to walk and found her talent in cross stitching. She kept busy with puzzles, adult coloring books and scrapbooking. Gloria was known to buzz around in her motor chair getting into trouble.

She was proud of her family and loved her Siamese cats. Her disease caused her to become bed bound later in which she enjoyed devouring books on her kindle and playing games on her phone. Gloria also loved to beat the grandkids in her favorite card game Skip Bo.

She is survived by her loving husband James “J.R.”, her oldest daughter Laura (Fouch) Carpentier and partner Jeromy Jordan of Homer, son Harry Sean Fouch of Augusta, Michigan, daughter Stacey Bowman and partner Joe Fuller of Big Rapids and daughter Kelli (Bowman) Mix and son in law Richard Mix of Newnan, Georgia including her niece more like a daughter, Holly of Greenville, South Carolina. Her grandchildren include Skye Bowman, Chelsea Carpentier, Noah Fouch, Avery Fouch, Katie Mix and Cheyenne Mix. Her three great grandchildren include Jayden, Xander and Emma, her sister Terri Dunn and brother Larry Eppley. She is also survived by her special friend Sandy Cornish who would take Gloria shopping and out to eat and they enjoyed completing puzzles together.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Karen Reed.
