Dr. Glenda E. Lee, age 88, of Battle Creek died at the Calhoun Country Medical Care Facility on May 28, 2006. She was born August 27, 1917 in Fredonia Township to Frank G. and Cora (Bucklin) Henasy. She had resided in Marshall and Battle Creek most of her life.She graduated from Marshall High School and Western Michigan University with a Bachelors and Masters Degree. She received her Specialist and Doctorate Degrees in Higher Education from the University of Michigan.Dr. Lee taught both elementary and secondary education before becoming an administrator at Kellogg Community College in Battle Creek. She worked at Kellogg Community College as a Psychology and Sociology instructor, a Counselor and as Registrar. She also served as Registrar at Oakland Community College and Middlesex Community College in Massachusetts.While working for the Board of Higher Education in Boston MA, she was a member of the National College Educational Testing Board and the Commonwealth Compact. During the six years that she worked in Massachusetts, she had many articles published in the New England Journal of the National Association of College Admission Counselors, the Community/Junior College Research Journal and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators JournalShe was listed in Who''s Who of American Women. She also served as a Cluster Coordinator for a Doctoral Program for Nova University. Her special honors include Women of Distinction for Delta Kappa Gamma, and a Scholarship and Fellowship for the Kellogg Foundation.After retirement, Dr. Lee served on the State Legislative Committee for Delta Kappa Gamma, Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel, and American Association of Retired Persons. She also served as a member of the South Central Michigan Commission on Aging. She served on the State Committee for Public Health and a member of the Advisory Council to the Office of Services to the Aging. In 1989, she became the National Area Vice-President for AARP where she served for four years.She is survived by a son, Dr. James F. Lee of Marshall and two daughters, Cheryl Bagi of Battle Creek and Brenda (Terry) Eddy of Marshall. She leaves six grandchildren, Dr. Kendall (Deb) J. Lee of Marshall, Karen (Phil) Longman of Marshall, Lisa (Jeff) Kiessling of Marshall, Nick (Toni) Eddy of Battle Creek, Ryan and Lyn Bagi of Battle Creek and six great-grandchildren, Logan Kiessling, Jacob Eddy, Brady and Rebecca Longman, and Zach and Ben Lee. She has one surviving sister, Valda Goodrich of Jackson. She was preceded in death by a sister Letha Matty of Bellingham, WA.Visitation will take place at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2:00pm-8:00pm with family present from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 6:00pm-8:00pm. Funeral services will take place at 3:30pm on Wednesday at the Funeral Home with Celebrant Bob Doner officiating. Interment will follow at Oakridge Cemetery.
