GERARD JOSEPH "JERRY" CONWAYGerard J. "Jerry" Conway, age 80, of Marshall died Friday, December 01, 2006 at the Veterans Medical Center in Ann Arbor.Mr. Conway was born on January 10, 1926 in Jersey City, New Jersey to George and Katherine (McMahon) Conway. Jerry served in the United States Army as a Cryptographic Specialist, receiving an honorable discharge in 1952. On August 28, 1953, he married the former Wilma Hedwig Muench in Washington, DC. Mr. Conway had been employed in New Jersey by J.P. Stevens for over 20 years as a Showroom Manager, retiring in 1988. In 1999, Jerry and his wife, Wilma, moved to Marshall to live with their daughter, Wilma-Maria "Willie" Conway.Mr. Conway was a devoted Christian. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church attending services daily. Jerry served as a Eucharistic Minister, serving communion to his homebound wife and meeting the needs of the residents at Tendercare of Marshall and Marshall Manor. He was a Third Order Carmelite. Jerry enjoyed fishing.A special surprise 80th birthday party was given to him by his family earlier this year. It was hosted by his son, Thomas in St. Louis, MO and was attended by all of his family. His family remembers Jerry as a loving and kind man, which maintained a very peaceful home.He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Wilma; daughters, Barbara (Thomas) Gottemoller of Mt. Zion, IL, and Wilma-Maria "Willie" Conway of Marshall; sons, Thomas (Lou Ann) Conway of St. Louis, Missouri, and Roger (Claudia) Conway of Windsor, Connecticut; 8 grandchildren; and a sister, Katherine Cole of Lanoka Harbor, NJ. He was preceded in death by a son, Barry Gerard Conway in 1963; 4 brothers and 2 sisters.Friends may call at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home on Monday between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm Monday at the funeral home. A funeral Mass will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, December 5 at St, Mary Catholic Church with Reverend Father Stephen Naas officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 pm at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society. Assistance with memorials is available at the funeral home.
