Gerald L. Krumvede, 82, of Tekonsha died on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Henry Ford Allegiance Health surrounded by his family following a short illness.
Gerald was born on October 5, 1937 in Battle Creek to Herman and Viola (Kraft) Krumvede. He graduated from Litchfield High School in 1956. He later would graduate from Jackson Community College in Tool and Dye Making. Gerald served in the United States Navy for two years. He was honorably discharged in 1958. On June 8, 1957 he married his high school sweetheart, Barbara A. Iles in Angola, Indiana. The loving couple recently celebrated their 63 rd wedding anniversary.
Gerald retired from North Adams Tool and Dye in 2005. Prior to that he worked for Rockwell International for 10 years until the plant closed, and he started with the Eaton Corporation where he worked 10 years. Along with working, he farmed many years in the Tekonsha Area. Gerald was a member of Saint Joe Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying camping, hunting, and fishing. Gerald also was a Jacques Seeds Dealer for many years, and with the seed company he and Barbara got to travel to many places. Gerald always stated, “That when he retires, he will drive to Alaska.” He and Barbara got to do that twice with their 5 th wheel. In retirement He gave his Tekonsha Library card quite a workout as Gerald was a passionate reader of western novels. He also was a loyal life long fan of the Detroit Tigers and Lions.
He is survived by his wife Barbara, children, Jeff Krumvede, Jan (Rusty) Cummins, and Julie (John Carroll) Krumvede; grandchildren, Justin Cummins, Jesse Cummins, Jordan Krumvede and Jacob Krumvede; siblings, Charlene Nasby and Gaylord (Dorothy) Krumvede. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial visitation will take place on Sunday June 28, 2020 from 1-3pm at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services 723 US Hwy 27 N Marshall MI 49068.
