George "Ed" Edward Scott

George "Ed" Edward Scott, 64, of Marshall, Michigan, passed away at the age of 64 on Monday, August 8, 2022 after a seven year battle with a neurological disease. Ed’s passing was a result of complications of the disease. Ed lived a life with a courageous and positive attitude.

He was born on April 17, 1958 to George and Kathleen (Seefeldt) Scott in Evansville, Indiana. Ed was introduced through a mutual friend to Sandra Schurtz of Cascade Township, Michigan and they were married on October 13, 1984.

Ed graduated from Purdue University with a mechanical engineering degree. After graduating from Purdue, Ed was employed as a mechanical engineer with Eaton Corporation in Battle Creek, Marshall, and Galesburg, Michigan. He also spent time working for Borg Warner in Marshall.

Ed had a very upbeat and happy personality, with a clever and witty sense of humor. As a knowledgeable lover of cars, Ed never shied away from car-related conversations or activities. He was an avid member of the Porsche Club of America, having owned four Porsches himself. Ed’s enthusiasm in motorsports led to his participation in autocross and attendance of car shows. When not on the track or caring for his vehicles, Ed loved to watch motorsports events on television.

Ed is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Sandra, his sisters; Susan Snyder and J Scott; his nephew; Ian (Cristen) Snyder; his niece, Liz (David) Rivera; and his aunt, Betty Grey Faber.  Ed is also survived by several great nieces, great nephews and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts and uncles.

Visitation for Ed will take place on Friday, August 19, 2022, 5:00 pm - 7:00 PM at Kempf Family Funeral & Cremation Services, 723 US Hwy 27 N Marshall, Michigan 49068.

Services will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022. Visitation starts at 10:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Laurie Michaels, officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Fountain Clinic or the charity of one’s choice.
