George E. Morgan, 87, of Battle Creek died on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at his home surrounded by family following a short illness.

George was born on October 7, 1933, in Wichita, Kansas to Guy W. and Mildred M (Mahlandt) Morgan. At a very young age the family moved to Battle Creek on their farm on Beadle Lake Road.  He graduated from Marshall High School in 1951. He served in the United States Army from 1951-1955.  On July 15, 1954, he married Ellen N. Copeland at the Newton United Methodist Church.  She preceded him in death On April 12, 2019.

George started working as a paperboy and moved through the ranks to Production Director. for the Battle Creek Enquirer.  He retired in 1995 after 45 years of service.  George also was an Independent Insurance Agent, selling insurance in the Battle Creek are for many years.  George was a 50-year member of the National Management Association, and he was a member of the Battle Creek First Baptist Church. As a young man, George was a member of the FFA, and 4-H, and he also enjoyed shooting archery, traveling, camping, and fishing.

He is survived by daughters, Cheryl (Morgan) Turner; and Cheryl’s son, Rex (Lexi) Turner, their son, Rex Larry Turner II and Cheryl’s daughter, Autumn (James) Nichols; and their children Carson and Chloe Nichols. Catherine Morgan and her daughter, Melissa (Thad) Shelton. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Ellen; and sister Judith Harrington.
