Gary Lee Jewett Sr.

Gary Lee Jewett Sr., 72 of Battle Creek, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, June 12, 2023.

Gary was born on February 3, 1951 to Donald W. and Marian E. (Lippen) Jewett in Battle Creek, Michigan. He graduated from Lakeview High School in 1969. Gary worked at Eaton as a Machinist in the automotive industry and as a Lathe Operator at Southern Graphics in the printing industry.

Gary was a member of the Battle Creek Corvette Club. He loved camping, especially in Mackinac City and the Soo Locks. Gary enjoyed riding Harleys. He had a love for restoring and painting classic cars. He would enjoy going to the NHRA Drag Racing and watching it on TV. He liked to deer hunt for many years and taught his son, Gary Jewett ll, and grandson, Jacob Bass to hunt. He liked fishing and showing horses with his children. Gary enjoyed going to South Haven and watching the boats going in and out of the channel, taking in the beautiful sunsets. His favorite place to eat was Clementines.

Gary is survived by his children, April Bass and Gary (Sarah) Jewett II; grandchildren, Jacob Bass, Gary Jewett III, and Khloe Jewett; sister, Debbie (Rick) Hoke; aunt, Marcia Lippen; many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 from 5-7 pm at Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 2838 Capital Ave SW, Battle Creek, Michigan 49015. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at 11 am with Tom Townsend officiating. Following the service, entombment will take place at 12:30 at Battle Creek Memorial Park, 2435 West Territorial Road, Battle Creek, Michigan 49015. The family invites friends to a luncheon following the service at Riverside Golf Club and Banquet Center, 245 E Columbia Ave, Battle Creek, Michigan 49015.
