Fred Lewis Nelson

August 16, 1943 — February 13, 2024

Battle Creek

Fred Lewis Nelson, 80, of Battle Creek, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2024 at Evergreen Senior Care & Rehab Center. He was born on August 16, 1943 to Wilbur and Tressa (Shupp) Nelson in Athens, MI. Fred was the youngest of four children. He married Pamela Dee Schuster on May 18, 1968 in Portland, MI.

Throughout his life, Fred lived primarily in Calhoun County, MI alongside his family and friends. Fred was strong-willed and stubborn at times, but he also had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. He was generous, loyal, and brave. He was clever and knowledgeable which was gained throughout his life experiences as a welder, bus driver, Culligan Man, truck driver and everything you can possibly think of. There was nothing he couldn’t do or wouldn’t do for someone.

Fred was a kind and thoughtful man and will be missed by the many lives he touched. Even though Fred has been taken home to be with the Lord, we are sad and yet happy that he is now free from his pain and suffering. Fred will be dearly missed.

Surviving are his loving wife, Pamela Dee Nelson, children, Donald E.  Nelson, Brian L. (Sharon) Nelson, Shawn (Faith) Nelson, Connie S. (Tim Adams) Feltner, Patricia K. Odette, Renee J. Buholtz; a multitude of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and other extended family and many caring friends.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
