Francis Eugene Rost, Jr.

Francis Eugene Rost Jr., 89, of Marshall, Michigan, passed away on February 14, 2022 at the Villas of Marshall.

He was born on February 9, 1933 to Francis and Geneva (Brown) Rost Sr. in Lansing, Michigan.

He was a member of Francis enlisted into the United States Navy at the age of 17  and graduated high school from the Great Lakes Naval Academy and then served from September22, 1950 until his honorable discharge on November 27, 1953, attaining the rank of Boatswain’s Mate Third Class.

He worked as a Millwright at General Motors Fisher Body in Lansing from 1953 until he retired in 1984.On June 19, 1975, Francis married Esther Shilling in Charlotte, Michigan.

Francis enjoyed raising flowers in his garden. He was an excellent woodworker and carpenter as he built several homes for his family. He could be found walking along the riverwalk and helping to clear debris and branches and helping with planting flowers around the Marshall Fountain. Francis liked to go pan-fishing on local area lakes. He and Esther loved to travel and camp throughout the lower United States.

Francis is survived by his loving spouse; Esther, his children; Robert Rost of Lansing, Michigan, Kevin (Beverly) Rost of Nashville, Michigan and Stephenie (Bill) Currier of Nashville, Michigan, his step-children; Dave (Debbie) Parshall of Middleville, Indiana, Dan (Connie) Parshall of Charlotte, Michigan, Teresa (Richard) Watson of Mesa, Arizona and Molly Parshall of Marshall, Michigan; his 17 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. and his sister; Shirley Moon of Charlotte, Michigan.

He was preceded in death by parents; his daughter; Stacy Rost and his brother, Larry Rost.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to the Marshall Garden Club.
