Frances L. (Thunder) Engelter

FRANCES L. (THUNDER) ENGELTERFrances L. (Thunder) Engelter, 95, of Marshall, died on Sunday, April 02, 2006, at Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall.Mrs. Engelter was born on July 18, 1910, in Eckford Township, to Lewis J. and Harriet (Booth) Thunder. She graduated from Marshall High School in 1928. On June 26, 1930 she married Leonard H. Engelter in Marshall. He preceded her in death on December 23, 1988.Mrs. Engelter retired in November 1972 as the office manager at Cooperative Extension Services after more then 20 years. She also worked in the office at Marshall Furnace Company for 19 years. After retirement, she and her husband enjoyed spending the winters in CaliforniaMrs. Engelter was a member of the Marshall United Methodist Church for over 80 years. She was very active in the church. She was a member of the Ester circle, Women''s society, having served as a chairman for several years, and was the secretary, and treasurer of the church board. Mrs. Engelter also taught sunday school, and helped with the youth fellowship groups. She was a former member of the Pythia sisters, Monday Club, Navy Mothers group and Oaklawan Hospital Auxiliary.She is survived by a son; Leonard "Hal" Engelter, of San Jose, California, five grandchildren, one great-grandson, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two sisters Grace Laing, and Adeline Cook.Visitation will take place at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home on Friday from 9:00am-9:00pm with family present from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 6:00pm-8:00pm. Funeral services will take place 11:00 am on Saturday at the Marshall United Methodist Church with Reverend Leonard Schoenherr officiating. Interment will follow at Oakridge Cemetery.
