Ethel Lee Fundaugh

October 11, 1954 — October 25, 2022

Ethel Lee Fundaugh, 68, of Battle Creek, passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 in the care of the University of Michigan Hospital staff in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

She was born on October 11, 1954 to Andrew Burke and Ollie Holt in Evarts, Kentucky.

She married the love of her life, William F. Fundaugh in May of 2003 in Battle Creek, Michigan.
Ethel was a longtime caregiver within the community, ending her career at Heartland Nursing Home in Battle Creek. She helped with the residents activities and in housekeeping.
Ethel enjoyed crocheting, quilting, cooking and baking. She would always say, “If you leave hungry, it’s your own fault”! She was a true Southern cook. Our favorites being her fried chicken, beans and cornbread! No one can make those things like her! She always had suckers just in case she saw the great-grandchildren. This would make her smile! You could never leave without a hug and “I love you”! Those hugs and precious moments will be deeply missed. Ethel loved Elvis, her dogs, tending to her house plants, and sitting on the porch, coffee in hand watching the birds, the flowers bloom and the butterflies that frequently visited them. She enjoyed spending time with family. Family meant everything to her!

She will be sadly missed by her family for her sarcastic comebacks, her infectious laugh and just being the loving person that she will always be to us!

Ethel is survived by her loving spouse; William, daughter; Tonya (Jared Porter) Ackerman of Battle Creek, Michigan, her son, Shawn (Sheila Fox) Jarrell of Ceresco, Michigan, her grandchildren; Ashley Greenman, Christopher Jarrell, Sabrina Greenman, Sam Jarrell, Rebecca Waterman, Melanie Jarrell and Isabella Fox. Great grandchildren; Sebastian Hamilton, Katurena Greenman, Aria Dewyse, Kyler Koch and Brantley Jarrell. Her sister; Marilyn "Joe" (Dan) Wilson of Evarts, Kentucky and her brother; Sam Turner of Harland, Kentucky, her sister and brother in law; Tammie and John Atkinson of Battle Creek, Michigan and mother in law, Velma Fundaugh of Battle Creek, Michigan, along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her granddaughter; Shyla Jarrell. Brothers; Tom Turner, Bobby Turner and sister; Mary Trine.
Per her wishes she will be cremated and taken “home” (Kentucky), in “the spring when the dog woods are blooming”.
There will be no services, per honoring her wishes.

We ask that you remember the times spent with her and cherish those memories. That’s what she wanted for all of us to cherish and love each other!

Memorials are suggested to the Calhoun County Animal Center and to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in memory of her granddaughter, Shyla.
