Esther Marie (Wendorf) Robinson

Homer

Esther Marie Robinson, 84, of Homer passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, in the comfort of her home surrounded by the love of her family. She was born in Butler Township, Michigan on April 30, 1938, to the late Warren and Ruth (Clark) Wendorf. Esther Wendorf and James Robinson wed on September 3, 1955. They were happily married for fifty-two years. This union produced eight children, over fifty grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Her loving spouse, James, passed away in 2008.

Esther supported her children and grandchildren in their academic and athletic pursuits. She and James continued to support Homer athletics for many years afterward, as well.

She took pleasure in caring for her family and greatly cherished her grandchildren. Esther enjoyed spending many hours in the garden, canning the numerous vegetables and fruits. Esther excelled at sewing, making many needle point works, and repairing clothing for her children. She additionally enjoyed frequent trips to Indiana. Esther worked for many years outside the home preparing meals for others.

Everyone that came to her home was warmly welcomed. Esther was known for her great sense of humor and easygoing nature. She was never one to turn down a game of euchre and spending time with family and friends.

Esther had an outstanding acumen in the kitchen. She could cook whatever her children bagged during hunting and the large garden produced. “If you left the kitchen hungry, it was your own fault,” as was frequently stated. Esther started every morning with a cup of coffee before she began the chores of a houseful of children.

Left to cherish her memory are children, Jennifer (Bill) Zachow of Homer, MI, Bruce (Paula) Robinson of Charlotte, MI, Brad (Virginia) Robinson of Homer, MI, Ronald (Marie) Robinson of San Angelo, TX, Deborah Sparks of Battle Creek, MI, Richard (Sue) Robinson of Albion, MI, Brian (Anne) Robinson of Burlington, MI, and Virginia Robinson of Coldwater, MI. Also, Many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren. As well as brothers, Kenneth (Judy) Wendorf of Quincy, MI, Raymond (Mary) Wendorf of Litchfield, MI, Edwin (Charlotte) Wendorf of Concord, MI; and sister, Dianna Jones of Colon, MI. Esther is preceded by the love of her life, James Robinson in 2008; parents, Warren and Ruth Wendorf; and brother, Robert Wendorf.

Esther will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Services have been entrusted to Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 303 S. Hillsdale Street, Homer, MI 49245. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, from 4:00pm - 8:00pm and Wednesday, September 7, 2022, from 10:00am until the funeral service begins at 11:00am with Rev. Bill Cole officiating. A graveside service will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Homer Township.
