Ervin “Doc” Joseph Wright, Sr., 72, of Marshall, went to be with His Lord and Savior on Friday, December 2, 2022.
Doc was born on February 14, 1950 in Huntington, West Virginia to James and Delphia (Browning) Wright. He was the sixth child born of seven. His family moved to Michigan in 1951.
Doc married Mari Ann Bronson in 1970 and together they had five children. They later divorced.
In Doc’s earlier years, he managed numerous gas stations, and was a mechanic for many years; owning his own garage in Marshall, Doc’s Auto Repair and later in Homer, Chad & Doc’s Automotive. He drove truck over-the-road. He had a passion for tinkering and working on vehicles. Doc was known for his master mechanic skills.
Doc loved spending time with family, being active by walking, lifting weights, and putting many miles on his bike. He was always helping his family where he could. Doc loved to hunt and would plan yearly hunting trips up north with family where they had the best of times. He also enjoyed the Christmas trips he took with his siblings. He loved to have fun and was a prankster.
Doc is survived by his children, Lisa (Tyler) Avery, Joseph (Lisa) Wright, Destiny Wright, and Matthew (Chris) Wright; daughter-in-law, Heather Wright; grandchildren, Audrey Myers, Ervin Wright III, Brooke Wright, Jordan Wright, and Brianna Wright; great-grandchildren, Gracie and Levy Wright; his siblings, Jan Boggess, Betty Ford, and Jimmy (Rudy) Wright; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
He is preceded in death by his son, Chad Wright; his parents, James and Delphia Wright; his siblings, James Wright, Phala Wilbur, and Patty Miller; his nephew, Jamie Boggess; and brother-in-law, Jerry “Bogey” Boggess.
Visitation for Doc will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 from 10:00 am until 12 Noon at Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 723 US Hwy 27 N Marshall, Michigan 49068 with the Celebration of life beginning at 12:00 Noon, Pastor Devon Shephard officiating. A committal service will follow at Oakridge Cemetery, Marshall.
