Eleanor Jean Olmstead, 87, of Marshall, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2023 surrounded by her loving family at Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall.
She was born on December 14, 1935 to Charles and Wava (Hoenes) Boughton in Marshall.
On October 11, 1958, Eleanor married Elmo Charles Olmstead in Albion, Michigan, sadly he passed away on March 29, 1971.
She worked at various businesses in the Marshall area, including St. Regis Paper Company and Win Schuler's in their cheese factory. Eleanor is best known for working at the Marshall Moose Lodge #676 as a bartender and as their bookkeeper for many years.
Eleanor loved to go to the casino and also play instant lottery tickets. She was active in the Thursday night golf league at Alwyn Downs Golf Course and during the winter, the Thursday night bowling league at Marshall Lanes. Everyone that knew Eleanor will remember her as an avid Detroit Lions football fan. Her greatest joy was being with her family, especially her grandchildren and attending their school and sporting events.
Eleanor is survived by her children; Terri (Mark) Dannenberg of Marshall and Chuck (Amy) Olmstead of Marshall, her grandchildren; Chelsea (Eric Barringer) Olmstead of Springfield, Michigan, Morgan (Tyler Gay) Olmstead of Marshall and Tyler (Jamie Morgan) Dannenberg of Marshall. She is also survived by her great grandson, Zayden Barringer and sister-in-law, Frances Boughton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Elmo, her two grandsons, Jacob Dannenberg and Michael Dannenberg, her siblings: Earl Boughton and Marion Boughton.
Visitation for Eleanor will be held Wednesday, May 17, 2023, from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Kempf Family Funeral & Cremation Services, 723 US Hwy 27 N, Marshall, Michigan 49068.
Funeral services will take place on Thursday, May 18, 2023, 11:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor Devon Shephard, Woodland Church-Marshall officiating. Burial will follow at Lyon Lake Cemetery in Marshall.
One of Eleanor’s final requests was for guests to dress casual in the Detroit Lion’s theme.
