Douglas Earl passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2023. Doug was born on May 1, 1942 to Milo and Helen (Hardt) Earl. He graduated from Washington Gardner High School in Albion, Michigan in 1960. Doug joined the United States Air Force to see the world and was stationed in Battle Creek for his entire enlistment. He married the love of his life Karen Smith, from Marshall, together they raised three boys.

Doug got involved with the Marshall Jaycees and served as a chairman for the Junior Miss program. He went on to serve as President for the local chapter, District Director, and Regional Director as well as State Secretary. He was awarded a JCI Senatorship by the Marshall Chapter.

Doug loved to watch his boys and later his grandchildren play sports and traveled the state to see their games. He also loved to see his granddaughters dance and act in plays.

He bought a 1945 Ford Pickup, sight unseen, from Colorado and had it shipped home. Doug spent a lot of time restoring and then driving it around town. He belonged to the Early Ford V8 Club of Jackson and served on their board for several years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Marshall. He loved to play golf.

Doug is survived by his wife, Karen; sons, Eric (Kym Kletke) Earl of Duck Lake, MI, Evan (Terry) Earl of Mesa, AZ, and Michael (Mercy) Earl of Lapel, IN; grandsons, Ryan (Nicole) Earl of Rockford, MI, Mark Bario and James Earl of Lapel, IN; granddaughters, Melanie (Aaron) Kovar of Delta, OH, Erica (Josh) Peters of Novi, MI, Ashley (Blake DeBree) Earl of Battle Creek, MI, Hope (Rob Mitchell) Earl of Otsego, MI, Tori (Devin Wolever) Westmoreland of Ann Arbor, MI; great grandchildren, Leah, Jace, and Dallas Kovar, Avery and Austyn Earl and Weston Peters, and his sister, Sherie Buckingham. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Danny Earl, and sisters, Norma Lautenslager, and Joyce Norton.

Services will be held at Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 723 US Hwy 27 N, Marshall, MI 49068 on Saturday, February 11, 2023. Visitation will be held from 11am to 1pm. The funeral service will begin at 1pm, Rev. Penny Pitts officiating. Services will conclude with a celebration of life to follow at 2pm.
