Doris A. Farmer, 103, of Fredonia Township, died on Sunday July 11, 2021, at Marshall Nursing and Rehabilitation Community.
Doris was born on January 13, 1918, in Big Rapids to Phinny and Mable (Torrence) Bushre. She attended school in Eckford Township. In 1986, she went back to school and earned her GED. On May 31, 1936, she married LeRoy A. Farmer in Eckford Township. He preceded her in death on October 24, 1995.
Doris was a homemaker staying home to raise her family. Durning World War II, she worked on the sodium filled vales for the B-17 bomber at the Eaton Factory in Marshall. Doris also worked at the Ritz's Café in Marshall for many years. Doris was an avid fan of NASCAR she would rarely miss a race and would proudly be wearing her Jeff Gordon gear. She also enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers, puzzles, and bingo. Doris especially enjoyed art and she was an avid painter in oil paint and watercolor. She loved spending time caring and watching over her family, and she truly enjoyed Sunday dinners.
She is survived by her children, Joan (Ken Reber)(Farmer) Pehrson, Barbara (Farmer) Perkins, Dianna (Maurice)(Farmer) Martin, Arthur (Tricia) Farmer, and Spencer Farmer; grandchildren, Greg (Sandy) Pehrson, Michelle (Randy Bellfi) Farmer, Tabitha (Scott) Prusakiewicz, and, Larry (Missy) Eib,; 11 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son Michael Farmer; grandsons Michael J. Farmer, Gary Eib, and Brett Pehrson; and her sisters Reva and Audrey.
Family will greet friends from 4-7pm on Thursday, July 15, 2021, at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services 723 US Hwy 27 N Marshall MI 49068. Funeral services celebrating her life will take place at 1pm on Friday July 16, 2021, at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services 723 US Hwy 27 N Marshall MI 49068. Interment will follow at Lyon Lake Cemetery.
