Donald E. Askew

Donald E. Askew, age 93, of Ceresco, passed away on December 28, 2022 in Battle Creek, MI.

He was born on November 18, 1929, to Fred and Carrie Ruby (Ryman) Askew in Battle Creek. Don trained as a jeweler/watch repairman. He married Beverly Sass on October 1, 1949, and they had five children. That marriage ended in divorce. He then married Joyce Fox in 1969. That marriage ended in divorce as well. He later married Helen Renee Plushnik on July 18, 1985. Helen preceded him in death on August 5, 2022. Donald and Helen recently celebrated their thirty-seventh wedding anniversary.

Don worked at Eaton’s for many years, where he was President of the Union. He went to Detroit and worked as an International Representative for the U.A.W. He enjoyed puzzles and handheld games. He liked taking long rides and enjoying different restaurants. He enjoyed doing yard work.

He is survived by his sons, Kurt, Eric (Denise), and Jeff (Liz) Askew; three step-sons, Jeffrey, Tony, and Paul Fox; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a few great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Fredrick, Gerald, Mildred, Gayle, and Robert; son, Conrad Askew and daughter, Wendy Panczyk.
