DONALD R. AMSLERDonald Robert Amsler, age 58, of Marshall died Sunday, April 2, 2006 at Battle Creek Select Specialty Hospital.Mr. Amsler was born on May 20, 1947 in Marshall to Harold R. and Roberta "Bobbie" (McCray) Amsler. Don was a life long resident of this area and was a graduate of Harper Creek High School, class of 1965. He attended Kellogg Community College and Western Michigan University, studying in the field of engineering. He had been employed by Post Cereal from 1965 to 1968. In 1968, he joined the Eaton Corporation in Marshall.On July 5, 1969, he married the former Sharon Farmer in Marshall. They shared the home they built in Fredonia Township for 33 years.Don enjoyed working around his home. He did all of the homes major landscaping and also helped in the flower gardens. He enjoyed doing genealogy and keeping up on his Amsler Family tree.Don is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sharon; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Melissa Amsler of Battle Creek; daughter and son-in-law, Cheri and Scott Parks of Albion. He is also survived by grandchildren, Gavin Amsler, Becky Parks, Jessie Parks and Emily Parks.Friends may call at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home on Wednesday, where the family will greet friends from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held 2:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Lyon Lake Cemetery. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to the Charity of One''s Choice.
